Objectives:

State of the Art : References of field performance are essential to underpin the study to chemical deterioration in the laboratory. A database of available samples across Europe has been established.
Objective and Innovation : A range of characterisation techniques (SEM, TEM, MRI) will be used to study phase assemblages, the pores structure and the state of water. The data will provide a cross check with the output of projects 1, 2, 3, 4 and calibration of modelling (project 9). VDZ will bring its knowledge from long term laboratory testing for comparison.
