Scope of Course

The present course is the third of six one-week courses given as part of the NANOCEM MC-RTN. The objective of this third course is to introduce the participant to durability related topics, standardization issues, and career possibilities in industry.

Course Contents

The following subjects are covered in the course:

•  Basic mechanisms
•  Structural implications and multiscale modeling
•  Chloride ingress and reinforcement corrosion
•  Sulfate attack
•  Case studies
•  Performance testing
•  Normalization
•  Career possibilities

The course consists of connected lectures and visit to the laboratories of Institute of Construction Science Eduardo Torroja (CSIC).

Social activities during the course are planned to promote a stimulating study atmosphere. 

Work Load

The estimated work load corresponds to 1 ECTS points, including approximately 20 hours of contact and an individual report after the course.

Notes will be provided before the course.

Evaluation

In order to get the credits, the participants will present a written report answering the question "How do you suggest to transfer research results to practice".
