MC-RTN Courses

These bi-annual courses supply an important component of the training of the Network fellows and provide focus and cohesion to the network as a whole.

-    Courses on research issues
Objective: To improve the scientific competences and to enlarge the expertise of the fellows; addressing scientific excellence, multidisciplinarity.

-    Presentation of the fellows work
Objective: To improve the communication skills of the fellows; to disseminate the scientific results; to share the best practices between the researchers; addressing dissemination, transfer of knowledge.

-    Connection with the industrial world
Objective: To fill the gap between the industrial and the academic world; to improve the knowledge of fellows on industrial possibilities; fostering an intersectorial approach, transfer of knowledge.

-    Complementary skills
Objective: to provide to the fellows knowledge & tools that equip them to work in an industrial context; addressing personal career development.

Each course is hosted by a different partner to maximise the international exposure.

These occasions are also used to invite experts from related domains to present new approaches and comment on the research work presented by the fellows.  In order to maximise the opportunity for the interaction of the Network fellows with the academic and industrial partners of the Network, the participation in these training course is limited to about 30–40 people – the Network fellows and 10-20 other doctoral students invited from the partner institutions and from outside organisations, particularly those from the new member states.

Special focus on concrete and the environment includes environmental impacts in the life cycle of cementitious products and methods to assess this and on the possibilities of cementitious materials to solve environmental problems (e.g. absorption of CO2 and encapsulation of dangerous waste).
